Current compensation study: Manager remunerations within the Renewable Energies Sector in Germany tended to increase once again in 2008

publication date: Sep 11, 2009

HR PERSONAL CONSULTING currently publishes a study about the compensations of management and supervisory board members in 37 listed German companies mainly working in the renewable energies (RE) sector. With this study the personnel consultancy primarily specialised in executive search in the clean-tech industries aims at presenting objective data as helpful orientation and basis of decision-making, especially against the background of the public discussion about appropriateness of compensations at the Clevel.

In particular for foreign investors the company states relevant information needs. Purpose of this study is the analysis and presentation of the compensation of management board members in the RE sector from the years 2007 and 2008. Meaningful influence factors, trends and correlations are considered. Additionally, the data of 18 companies from the photovoltaic industry as the largest group within this sample are analysed once again separately.

Significant positive correlations are proved between compensation at C-level and relevant key figures of the companies (number of employees, EBIT and sales) in both years. In contrast, the size of board does not play any significant role as well as the specific industry classification within the RE. Regarding trends for the majority of analysed companies in 2008 it can be stated that both compensation at Clevel and the three key figures increased compared to 2007. The largest number of managers among the top earners of this sector is allocated by the photovoltaic industry.

Currently, the present examination is the only compensation study up to date which concentrates on the RE sector exclusively. Its findings are considered to be representative for this sector. From it suitable recommendations can be educed for compensations of managing directors in not listed companies. In contrast to other industry specific respectively intersectoral compensation studies, in the one at hand not only the CEO remuneration is analysed but also the compensation of the remaining management board members in 2007 and 2008. Moreover, supervisory board members are considered as well for both years. By doing so the study provides a complete data collection and presentation of detailed figures and their changes from 2007 to 2008 for each company, including compensations of management and supervisory board as well as company key figures.

Furthermore, the Top Five of the best paid managers and the companies with the highest average compensation at C-level are revealed. In 2008, this ranking is led by Anton Milner, CEO of Q-Cells SE. Interested parties can order the study in English from HR PERSONAL CONSULTING by now. It can be purchased in the digital version on CD for 599 EUR or as hardback at a price of 699 EUR, each price including 7% VAT. Besides, the personnel consultancy will be on site at the EU PVSEC in September 2009 in Hamburg. The study will be sold directly on CD at their booth as well.
