SGS is currently actively involved in Project Certification of several new offshore wind farms- and Solar PV projects across Europe.  SGS is the leading certification and inspection company for Renewable Energy Life Cycle Services.

Certification of onshore and offshore wind farms and wind turbine projects in general continues to grow as a SGS Global Service Line. Consequently, the SGS Wind Energy Centre of Excellence located in Hamburg and the SGS Global Wind Energy Network is currently significantly expanding its staff with new technical wind energy experts and inspectors. The contracts now signed cover project certification services for e.g. the following offshore wind farm projects:

• Butendiek Offshore Wind Farm, Germany, 300 MW
• Delta II Offshore Wind Farm, Germany, 400 MW
• Rhyl Flats Offshore Wind Farm, UK,  90 MW
• Global Tech I, II and III, Germany, 3 x 400 MW

In addition, SGS is currently involved in several both onshore and offshore wind farm projects offering an integrated asset integrity condition monitoring inspection service package, MIMS (Mechanical Integrity Management System) for wind turbines and wind farms in operation. This service package includes e.g. risk based inspection condition monitoring for wind turbine Blades and wind turbine Gear Boxes. ‘SGS’ extensive international network of wind energy competences and wind turbine expert inspectors providing inspection and certification services also during the Manufacturing-, Commissioning- and In-service Phases, we believe is one of the main reason why SGS has been selected as Certification Company for these Offshore Wind Farm Projects’ says Dr. Jan Behrendt Ibsø, Vice President & Global Director, Renewable Energy, SGS Group Management.  Solar PV Project Certification Services is also now a core area for SGS Renewable Energy and many project assignments has been won- and are being executed in Germany, Spain and Italy.
